You’ve heard plenty of reasons why you should move during this season or that season. In our experience, the “best” time to move all comes down to personal preference. Summer affords lots of light and opportunities to step away from work or school, but here are some other fun reasons why summer is a great time to move.
- Kids are out of school. And college kids are too.
I’m starting with the reason that seems the least unconventional, but having kids out of school provides a lot of flexibility when it comes to your move. There are a lot of options when it comes to including the kids or keeping them occupied while you get the heavy lifting done. With college kids out of school too, you can find some affordable helpers and/or babysitters and pet sitters.
- There is nothing quite like an ice-cold lemonade after moving on a hot day.
Lemonade didn’t get its role in pop culture for nothing. Hot chocolate after a long day of moving just isn’t the same as an ice cold lemonade (or your preferred cold beverage of choice). It’s refreshing, rewarding, and summer in a glass.
- You can take in a little extra sunshine!
If you’re moving in or out of a sunny location, you can also flash those guns and get some rays! Just don’t forget to wear sunblock to protect your skin. Plus, if you finish early, there’s plenty of time to hang out in your backyard or by the pool. Don’t forget the lemonade!
- It’s the season of ice cream trucks.
You won’t get any sugary frozen treats during the winter driving up and down your road in the winter! Stopping for an ice cream break or ending the day with a popsicle is just an added bonus on a hot moving day.
- Snuggling up by the fireplace is great, but not as fun as jumping in a pool or through a sprinkler.
I know some people are going to disagree, but enjoying some cool water after a hot day is much more refreshing than a fire on a cold day. Listen, I’m not knocking a cozy night by the fireplace, but you just can’t beat the fun of a cannonball or a leap through hose water in the backyard.
